The FFC Bulletin 2023 V1 – A Lighter Touch agroecology projects

Subscription information, disclaimer, copyright and licensing

The ‘A Lighter Touch‘ project is a collaboration between the horticultural and arable sectors in Aotearoa-New Zealand focused on pesticide reduction. Two sub-projects are looking at agroecological transformations of perennial crops (using Citrus as a model crop) for arthropod pest management and alternatives to pesticides in field vegetable production.

FFC Head Dr Charles Merfield has been involved in both these projects and has helped produced reports for the projects on conservation biocontrol options for perennial crops and non-chemical options in vegetables. Download the reports: ‘Agroecological pest management in citrus‘  and ‘Knowledge review of agroecological crop protection approaches in vegetable production systems to reduce pesticide use‘.
