“The BHU Stepping stone programme has been incredibly valuable to me and my project.
Deciding to farm NZ grown textiles & dye plants on a large scale is a big risk with an even bigger learning curve! But being able to attempt this goal under the supervision of knowledgeable farmers and with access to land and equipment means my project has been given the kickstart I honestly could not have achieved in any other way.
During my two seasons, I’ve invited many people to come and learn about what I’m trying to achieve, from artists to academics, fashion designers to crafters, the breadth of people I’ve met over this time has been so rewarding!
Now that my two seasons are coming to an end, I have a clear understanding on my personal & farming limits, a fantastic network of support and a realistic pathway to reaching my goal of creating NZ grown textiles.”
