Luke-Bird Martin is the Collection curator of O Tāne Aotearoa – the New Zealand Plant collection at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. He spends the rest of his time on his property in Wairewa/Little River developing permaculture and food forest systems and breeding poultry. Luke is also a trustee of the Southern Seed Exchange, a heritage vegetable seed savers society based in Ōtautahi that aims to preserve and pass on vegetable varieties that have been grown in New Zealand and Canterbury for generations.
